Paramaribo – Suriname president Chan Santokhi confirmed on Thursday that Minister of Finance and Planning Armand Achaibersing resigned.
Santokhi mentioned Achaibersing stepped apart for “a strictly private motive”.
In a press release, he mentioned “out of respect for the privateness and private circumstances of Minister Achaibersing, this subject has been dealt with with care”.
The resignation letter was despatched to President Santokhi on August 13.
“The pinnacle of state has indicated to Minister Achaibersing that the letter will likely be handled with essentially the most pressing consideration and that the minister’s private scenario is actually understood,” the president mentioned in a media assertion.
